At Messy Senses, we specialise in:

  • Autism
  • Learning disabilities
  • Complex health care needs
  • Alzheimer's & Dementia

We cater for all ages from babies right through to the elderly, taking great pride in what we do and showing great empathy for each individuals needs. We deliver a quality service that thrives on passion and belief that everyone has equal opportunities.

To help begin a long-lasting relationship with you and your business, we visit your setting for a friendly and free consultation. During the visit, we will help to devise an informal, bespoke plan to enhance the sensory development needs of your individuals. Note: For formal sign-off of assessments, you will need to consult an occupational therapist or other healthcare professional.

We provide both large-scale and smaller sessions (i.e. using lap trays) for individuals of reduced mobility. Inclusion is at the absolute heart of everything we do. We therefore guarantee to provide suitable solutions that allow everyone to get involved and equally benefit from the session.

Some of what we can offer includes:

  • simple tips and tricks to maximise sensory development for all ages and abilities, based around messy sensory play and tools;
  • support in demonstrating your inclusion polices to OFSTED and CQC regulators;
  • contribute to the development or enhancement of Educational Healthcare Plans.

Over half a decade, we have developed a robust professional network of healthcare support organisations. If at any point during our relationship with you we believe you will benefit from other, external services, that are not provided by Messy Senses, we are able to call upon this network to bring you the best possible outcomes for your service.

There are also no minimum or maximum number of sessions with Messy Senses. You are also in control and we will only develop plans that align to your exact needs. All our staff are also Makaton sign trained to ensure that sessions can be enjoyed by absolutely everyone. This is something we are also able to help you to learn, as we believe that effective communication strategies are key to great relationships and learning for all.

Things such as teach boards, object of reference and picture exchange is also something we can help demonstrate and put into place for the children and adults that you work with within your settings. How amazing would that be if you can demonstrate these as part of your inclusion policies (and to your regulatory bodies!)?

We also provide SEND stay and play sessions with parents and carers, if this is something you are interested in attending or delivering yourself then please get in touch!

Why do we provide bespoke services?

EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT

At Messy Senses, we recognise that everybody is different, have their own needs and develop at their own pace. Our specialist knowledge and expertise centres around using the many benefits of sensory play to help stimulate all aspects of brain development. It is about allowing individuals to take what they want from the activity, keeping it personal and appropriately paced for all ages and abilities. Our aspiration is to open up new development pathways to explore, learn and play within safe and secure environments.

We specialise in autism, learning disabilities and complex health care needs. All of our services follow the Messy-Senses ethos of promoting inclusion, enabling all adults and children to have equal opportunities to learn and develop through everything we do.

INDIVIDUAL NEEDS CATERED FOR

We offer a range of bespoke services, including (but not limited to):

  • support to parents, staff and carers on how to provide sensory stimulating environments that enhance overall brain development;
  • bespoke sensory sessions tailored for individual needs;
  • provide sessions within familiar environments (i.e. nurseries, schools, day centres, care homes, etc.) to help individuals feel both safe and at ease with anxieties linked to sensory exploration.

By applying a sensory based approach, we ensure that inclusion is maximised at all times. All bespoke sessions are planned around your individual needs and delivered at your own pace.
